Free First Private Sessions Thru the End of April!

Have you been wondering what my private sessions are all about but weren’t sure if you wanted to try one? My healing and self-development work is very experiential and embodied — so much so that it can be difficult to communicate in words what it actually entails (though you can find plenty of that on my Services page).

Because I’m so confident that this work can benefit those who feel called to it, I’ve decided to make the first private session free to the first 10 people who book one before the end of April! There’s no obligation to schedule more sessions after the first one. Only a few special conditions apply.

One is that I’ll ask you to fill out a brief feedback form, to potentially be used as a public testimonial. You’ll have the option for the testimonial to be anonymous. A video testimonial would be another option.

The second condition is that, for the session to be totally free, you must either come to my home office in Ferndale, Michigan, or meet with me through video chat (which requires a webcam and high-speed Internet). If you need me to meet you elsewhere in the metro Detroit area or in Ann Arbor, the usual surcharge will still apply (see Private Sessions section of the Services page).

Time slots are limited, so reserve your session quickly! To set up a session or ask any questions, please contact me here.

Rhythmic Renewal: Sunday Movement Meditation

Rhythmic Renewal is a free-movement meditation happening downtown on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. Alex Moore and I created the event in September 2014 under the name “Dance Church Detroit.” Then we decided to change the name to something more inclusive that fits the unique spirit of Detroit.

At “R&R” we turn off our conversational voices and explore the language of our bodies. This is a safe space to venture inward while building a new kind of connected community that transcends boundaries. Family friendly ~ children to great-grandparents welcome. Please leave judgment at the door and help us hold a safe space for creative expression and self-development.

~ We start with an opening intention
~ Then music plays for about 75 minutes with a gradual rise and gradual fall
~ Finally we meet for a meditation and have time for personal shares

2nd and 4th Sundays
12:00 – 2:00pm
House of Bastet
1301 W Lafayette Blvd
Suite 111 (street level entrance between Suddle Creations Gallery and Lafayette Lofts)
Detroit, MI 48226

Look for a big red building west of John King Used & Rare Books and park on the street.

~ Suggested donation $5-10 ~ No one turned away for lack of funds
~ Call in all types of diversity, outer and inner
~ Come and go as you please ~ There’s no such thing as “late”
~ You don’t have to dance the whole time ~ You’re free to be however feels right, even if that means sitting or lying down
~ Help us keep this a drug-free event

Please join the Facebook group if you have not yet.

3-Hour Workshop in Ann Arbor

On Saturday, December 13, I will host my second 3-hour Dreaming Feeling Background Self-Development Workshop! The first one in the Detroit area on November 8 was a huge success, so I’ll be keeping most of the format intact. This time it will take place at the Crazy Wisdom Bookstore & Tea Room in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan. Their Community Room is a perfect space for this kind of work.

You can expect:
– A featured demonstration of how dreams and body sensations can guide us through interpersonal conflicts.
– Individual, pair, and/or small group exercises to develop awareness and communications skills.
– A full Group Process including some role playing.
– And: flowing with whatever needs to happen in the moment.

Here are the other details:

What do relationship and group conflicts, body sensations, movement urges, nighttime dreams, altered states, and nature experiences have in common? They’re all part of the same process of becoming. When you feel stuck or disturbed by one area, the others can help you get flowing again. In one sense we are individuals living in the universe – and in another sense the universe is happening through bodies, dreams, relationships, etc.

In this 3-hour workshop, facilitator Nick Meador will offer a variety of self-development teachings and exercises to build awareness and communications skills. We’ll witness the parallels from individual to relationships to groups, and see how there are always multiple ways of interpreting and working with our experience.

In his facilitation Nick incorporates Process Work (or process-oriented psychology), Nonviolent Communication, cognitive therapies, and his own unique ideas. Nick trained at the Process Work Institute in Portland, Oregon. Process Work is an awareness paradigm that sees opportunities for growth and transformation in the disturbances and mysteries we find in dreams, body symptoms, and our interpersonal lives.

Online Panel Discussion on Forgiveness

1553560_715868681778861_1255248516_oThe Project Bring Me to Life team invited me to facilitate an online panel discussion on the topic of Forgiveness on Wednesday, November 5. I led it Group Process-style, without generating a list of questions in advance. The speakers joining me included Chrisopher Selomon Closson, Shan Tastic, Ashton Robertson (of Spaceship Earth), Christina Teller, and Ant Head. A lot of rich wisdom came up in the discussion, and I look forward to more like it in the future!

You can watch the entire talk on YouTube below. Feel free to share it or embed on your website or blog. Also, you can view the “white board” from the discussion HERE. 🙂

Their main guest, Uche of Cosmic Village, couldn’t do the official podcast until 10pm EST. So Selomon and Co. were having an open discussion from 8-10pm. Ashton of Spaceship Earth did some live performing, and Nick Mielnicki and Shan Tastic came along for the ride as well. Everyone was in “costume” (mostly Google Hangout hats and mustaches) in honor of Halloween.

I popped on for an hour around 8:30 and suggested that we talk about dreams. Below is a video cued for right before the dreamwork begins. But you could also watch from the start and continue after I leave (Ashton’s music is stellar!). Plus, here’s the official podcast with Cosmic Village.

Freaquinox 2014

10556961_10152227006986286_2000941599361029689_oI am scheduled to lead a workshop on the first evening of Freaquinox 2014, an intimate participatory festival at Mulberry Hill Agrarian Cooperative in Saline, Michigan.

As the Facebook event page says, “Freaquinox is our annual celebration of the bounty of the growing season, fire, the beauty of fall, the magic of life, each other and all that is good in the world.”

Freaquinox takes place Friday to Sunday, September 19-22, and admission is either by minimum 4 hours of volunteering or monetary contribution of $40 (or some other combination of performance, presentation, etc).

This is the same space where Metta Morphosis happened back in May, and Freaquinox promises to be another important gathering for the SE Michigan “tribe.” Don’t miss it!

Dance Church Detroit

Dance Church Detroit is coming! I first experienced Dance Church in May at the small festival Metta Morphosis. Carla Samson facilitated, as she usually does at Dance Church Ann Arbor. And it was an amazingly transformational experience that capped a lovely weekend of building new connections in Michigan’s heart-centered community.

Since then, Alex Moore and I have been working, with Carla’s guidance, to get one going in the city of Detroit. Now we finally have a plan to start on Sunday, September 14, at House of Bastet!

In short, Dance Church is a free movement practice with no verbal conversation in which people are free to express themselves however feels right. It reminded me in some ways of the ecstatic dance practices I had experienced in Colorado and Oregon. However, there are a few key differences, and this model feels “just right” to me.

Alex and I are preparing the music and planning to co-facilitate the first few. Then we’ll be inviting others to do the same. We really want this to be a Detroit community project that bridges gaps and connects people in an entirely new way.

Here are the basics:

Sunday, September 14th
11:00am – 1:00pm
House of Bastet
1301 W Lafayette Blvd
Suite 111
Detroit, MI 48226
Donation based ~ Give what your heart feels

Please view the Facebook event for more info, and join the Dance Church Detroit group for future updates!

I have been confirmed to lead a workshop at Three Days of Light Gathering, happening near Asheville, North Carolina, from Oct 3-5. This year’s theme is “Return to Innocence,” and the schedule is full of amazing activities. I can’t wait to experience the Asheville area for the first time. I have fond memories of exploring the nearby Smoky Mountains National Park a a child.

My workshop, “The Dreaming Feeling Background,” is currently scheduled from 2:00-3:15pm 3:30-4:45pm on Sunday (Updated on 8/28/2014). With those 75 minutes I plan to offer some inner/outer personal development work. It’ll likely involve an individual meditation, an exercise in pairs, and a full Group Process.

Tickets currently start at $115 for field camping, and go up depending on if you want a different camping area or indoor lodging packages.

By using this LINK to buy tickets, you will be supporting me directly. I will receive a portion of the sale, and this will contribute to my dream of working as a transformative group facilitator. You can also enter NickMeador (no space) in the promo code line for a $10 discount on your total purchase!
